Yeah, the easiest solution is to pay comcast another 5 or 10 bucks per month and get a static ip, then give the ip to your vendors. If that's not possible you can either use a proxy server or route db bound traffic out your T1 - if your equipment supports it. Sonicwall for example doesn't have the ability to route via fqdn yet (last I checked). I think most of the database vendors have static ip's but some of them are dynamic. - Mike

Are we talking about broadband on COMCAST MetroEthernet fiber or COMCAST
cable?
We are using COMCAST's free high-speed cable service in addition to our
T1. Only our public PCs access the cable service. Depending on the
database, we've a) asked the supplier to recognize the second IP, b)
internally routed requests for that database over the T1 [not much
traffic to worry about], or c) required patrons to use their library
card number (as if they were outside of the library).

Is anyone expanding their broadband with Comcast? If so, how do you
continue to get the database suppliers ( Gale, Newsbank, RefUSA, etc. )
to recognize your IP range?
