There is only 7 of the needed 10 registrations for the November 10, 2009 workshop How to Run an After-School Program in a Public Library

Speakers

Library staff from the Glenwood-Lynwood and River Forest Public Libraries Margaret Oellrich, Sue Quinn & Laura Van Cleve

Program Description:

Is an after school program a good fit for your library? At this workshop, staff from the Glenwood-Lynwood and River Forest Public Libraries will discuss how to align an after school program to the public library mission and note what sets a library after school program apart from other types of after school programs. This program will also focus on why some after school programs just don't work and what we can do to find better ones.

Topics to be covered include: logistics (space, materials, funding, staffing, publicizing, etc.), looking at your demographics, getting support and building partnerships, how to keep a program going, and lessons learned from two libraries that have established successful after school programs.
